A man was arrested early Sunday morning for allegedly assaulting a 22-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman downtown, according to the Madison Police Department.
Percell T. Swiney, age 23, faces tentative charges of substantial battery, battery and resisting/obstructing, MPD Public Information Officer Joel DeSpain said in an incident report.
Swiney made derogatory comments toward the female victim while she was walking on State Street with two friends, who argued with the suspect. Following the verbal confrontation, Swiney struck the female in the face and fled.
Swiney later reappeared, as the victims entered the parking garage on the 400 block of North Lake Street, reportedly “looking for a fight.” Swiney repeatedly punched the male victim and knocked him unconscious.
Nearby officers arrested Swiney around 2:30 a.m., following the second incident, DeSpain said.
