A bag of crack cocaine was discovered at a grocery store near the downtown area over the weekend, the Madison Police Department said Monday.
Officers were called to Copps grocery store on South Park Street around 1:54 p.m. Saturday, MPD Public Information Officer Joel DeSpain said in an incident report.
A dropped bag containing the substance, which was later confirmed as crack cocaine through a field narcotics test, had been found by employees near the store’s cash register.
The collected crack cocaine is now in an MPD evidence locker.
“Its likely owner was spotted coming back—several times—Saturday afternoon to look around the floor inside,” DeSpain said. “No one has come to try to claim it.”
