Fourth-degree sexual assault reportedly occurred in Union South

A woman reported being touched inappropriately by a man she did not know at a Thursday night dance class at Union South.

UW-Madison Police Department received a report of the fourth-degree sexual assault Friday, according to a UWPD crime warning. They are currently investigating the crime.

UWPD spokesperson Marc Lovicott said the alleged perpetrator was also participating in the class. He said the crime is considered an ongoing threat to the community because the suspect has not been identified.

UWPD did not have any further information about the incident.

“There’s a police investigation ongoing,” Lovicott said. “We’re pushing out all the information that we can without identifying the victim and without jeopardizing the investigation.”
