An attempted sexual assault allegedly occurred Thursday in a university building on the west side of campus, according to a crime warning from the UW-Madison Police Department.
The victim and attacker knew each other prior to the alleged attack, according to the warning. No other information about the attempted assault was released.
According to the National Institute of Justice, between 85 and 90 percent of sexual assaults reported by college women are perpetrated by someone that the victim knows.
UWPD said they are currently following up on the information they received.
