If you drive to work or school on West Washington Avenue, put on your turn signal because you’re going to have to change lanes.
The center traffic lanes of West Washington will be closed in both directions at Bedford Street starting Monday and ending Sept. 29, according to a City of Madison release.
The lane closures will allow the city to install underground utilities for Madison Gas & Electric. Parking will be removed within the construction area, but sidewalks and crosswalks will remain open.
Mark your calendars, commuters, because the lane closures don’t end Sept. 29—after the construction work at Bedford is complete, similar closures will take place at West Washington’s intersection with Broom Street, and then Bassett Street.
The schedule is tentative and dependent on weather, the city said. All in all, residents can expect lane closures on West Washington to continue for about two months.
