The fight apparently began when two groups of people left The Kollege Klub arguing over a lost jacket, according to a Madison Police Department log of daily significant calls. A man who was "acting wildly" approached the victim and his friend — a 22-year-old who was also punched in the head during the encounter — after leaving a bar.

The suspect and an accomplice had fled.
