The UW-Madison Police Department apprehended a person of interest in the attempted abduction on Observatory Drive last week.
According to an incident report, the arrest was made without incident with the help of the City of Madison Police Department.
While walking home early on the morning of Monday, Oct. 2, a UW-Madison student was grabbed from behind by an armed, unknown man. He placed her in a headlock and struck her with the weapon multiple times while attempting to force her across the Sewell Social Sciences parking lot.
She was eventually able to fight him off before calling for help and was transported to a local hospital.
Officials are not releasing a name at this time but said the man has no affiliation with the university.
