The No. 1 Wisconsin Badgers (17-1-0) are back at LaBahn Arena for the first time in nearly a month this weekend to face Minnesota Duluth (9-8-0) in a two game series. Wisconsin split its two games last weekend in Washington D.C. with a 3-2 loss to Northeastern followed by a 4-2 win over Boston University. The Bulldogs will look to continue their hot streak this weekend in Madison. Minnesota Duluth has won seven of its last eight games and is riding a three-game winning streak.
In Wisconsin, the unranked Bulldogs face their toughest test of the season. The one-loss Badgers have been the most dominant team in the country thus far and will look to continue their tear through the WCHA. With a series tie or win, however, Minnesota Duluth could vault themselves into the rankings for the first time this season. But winning won’t be easy as their 1-6 record against ranked teams doesn’t bode well for the Bulldogs.
For the Badgers, Minnesota Duluth presents yet another unique challenge. After facing ranked teams and drawing tough matchups in neutral sites, Wisconsin faces another beast in a scorching hot Minnesota Duluth team. The Bulldogs are coming off of their most impressive weekend of the season capitalized by a 4-1 thumping of the third ranked Colgate Raiders (14-2-0) in the University of Vermont tournament. The Badgers will look to take care of business yet again on the defensive end this weekend. Wisconsin has only given up more than two goals once thus far, and those came in last weekend's loss to Northeastern.
The puck drops at LaBahn arena at 5:07 p.m. Friday night and 12:07 p.m. Saturday afternoon. You can tune in to both games live on BTN to see one of the hottest teams in the nation take on UW.
