A search and screen committee has named two finalists for the next chief information officer and vice provost for information technology, the university announced Tuesday.
A 15-member search committee — chaired by professor of Public Affairs and Social Work Maria Cancian — selected:
- Lois Brooks, the vice provost for information and technology and the chief information officer at Oregon State University
- Jenn Stringer, the chief academic technology officer and assistant vice chancellor for teaching and learning at the University of California, Berkeley
The chosen finalist will replace Interim Chief Information Officer Michael Lehman, who was named to the position in February 2017 after the retirement of Bruce Maas.
The VP-CIO plays a critical role in developing and overseeing UW-Madison’s strategic IT plans, resources and services, according to the release. They manage the Division of Information Technology, the main IT organization on campus that employs more than 600 full-time staff and operates with a budget of $100 million.
The finalists will host public presentations April 19 in the Biotechnology Center Auditorium, where they will lay out their strategic vision for the position.
UW-Madison employees are permitted to attend the presentations in pay status, with supervisor permission, if the timing falls within normal work hours, according to the release.
