Madison’s Common Council member Ald. Denise DeMarb, District 16, announced her resignation Thursday evening.
In a letter sent to Common Council President Samba Baldeh and Chief of Staff Kwasi Obeng, DeMarb said that she would resign from her position on June 30 because she would no longer be a resident of her district.
DeMarb has been a member of the Common Council since 2013 and served as council president for the 2015-2016 year.
In the case of a vacancy, the Common Council Executive Committee will review applications for the position and recommend a candidate to become an interim alder.
A Common Council Office press release said a timetable for replacement will be available in the near future.
