The UW-Madison Police Department received notice of two burglaries that allegedly took place at University Hospital this week, according to a UW-Madison Crime Warning.
The burglaries — believed by police to be connected — occured Tuesday at approximately 3 p.m. in the J5 unit and Thursday around 11:45 a.m. in the G5 unit of the hospital.
According to the warning, a hospital employee discovered a person rummaging through her purse in her office Thursday. The suspect ran after being confronted, and a person matching the suspect’s description was seen in the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation building on the 12th and 13th floors shortly after the encounter.
The suspect is described as a six-foot-tall, white male weighing about 160 pounds with short, dark hair. He was last seen wearing a gray tank top and khaki cargo shorts, according to the report.
UWPD is actively investigating both cases.
