UW-Madison’s Kappa Sigma Fraternity has been placed on interim suspension by the university following a safety incident that occurred at a party last weekend.
The incident — where a woman was nearly struck by a falling television — occurred June 30 at the Kappa Sigma Fraternity house, according to an article written earlier this week by Daily Cardinal reporter Lawrence Andrea.
After the incident occurred, the UW-Madison Kappa Sigma Fraternity charter was withdrawn from the national branch.
While on university suspension, the Kappa Sigma fraternity cannot hold events, reserve spaces or enjoy any other privileges that come with student organization status.
The UW-Madison Division of Student Life is currently investigating the fraternity and the events that occurred on the day of the incident.
If found in violation of the Student Organization Code, the fraternity could face punishment. Individual members could also be held accountable under the non-academic misconduct code.
