BREAKING: Suspect dead after shooting at Middleton software company

The individual suspected of shooting four people — who remain in care at UW Hospital — at a Middleton Software Company is dead after being shot by officers, according to local police.

The Wisconsin State Journal reported one witness saw a man enter the offices of WTS Paradigm with a gun. Witnesses have reported that the suspect is an employee at the company.

"I saw a dude walking with a gun inside the building," Andrew King, an employee at TrafficCast, located near the scene at 1800 Deming Way, told the Wisconsin State Journal. "He was just walking with it, and I didn't see any shooting."

Residents in the area were told to seek shelter, and area schools were placed on lockdown, which has since been lifted. UW-Madison Police Department officers responded to the scene for backup.

There is no threat to UW-Madison students, according to UWPD Communications Director Marc Lovicott, and the scene has been stabilized.

This is an ongoing story and will be updated as we receive more information.
