The Madison police department has publicly identified the officer involved in last weekend’s police shooting after placing her on administrative leave.
Christiana Hill, who had served with the department since 2002, will remain on leave pending an investigation into her role in a shooting on Madison’s North Side Saturday.
The 35-year-old suspect, who brandished a knife and threatened Hill, was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The suspect had fled from officers after they were called to the scene of a reported assault, according to a police report. When Hill pursued, the suspect threatened her, according to a police statement.
At a news conference, Chief Mike Koval said the suspect told Hill something to the effect of "It's you or me."
