Wisconsin basketball announced Wednesday that sophomore forward Aleem Ford has suffered a knee injury and will have to undergo surgery.
Ford is expected to return later this season but was ruled out “indefinitely” in a press release from the program.
The forward had a promising redshirt freshman campaign last year, leading the team in three-point field goal percentage (40.9 percent) and averaging 5.8 points per contest.
He was expected to battle for a starting frontcourt spot this season, which will now likely be held by sophomore forward Nate Reuvers.
This injury blow follows the absences of Kobe King and D’Mitrik Trice last season. Both missed most of 2017-18 with injuries to their knee and foot respectively.
The Badgers open the season with an exhibition against UW-Oshkosh on Friday before kicking the regular season off on Nov. 6 at home against Coppin State.
