A Madison woman was arrested Monday for a murder that took place in the State Street parking ramp early Sunday morning.
Twenty-one-year-old Kenyairra Gadson was taken into custody without incident after police identified her through surveillance footage and witness statements. Gadson allegedly shot 21-year-old Steven Villegas in the torso around 2 a.m. Sunday. Villegas later died at the hospital.
Though police previously believed the incident began following an argument in Whiskey Jack’s Saloon, they clarified Monday this was not the case. Madison police chief Mike Koval indicated Gadson and Villegas were known to each other.
Gadson will be charged with first-degree intentional homicide.
