UWPD has partnered with Trek Bicycles to host a program on campus that will encourage safe cycling for students and community members.
The bike light program, which will take place tomorrow night, is part of UWPD’s “Be Bright” special enforcement initiative. At the event, law enforcement will stop bicyclists on campus who do not have appropriately lit bicycles, inform cyclists about bike light laws and provide and install a white front light to their bicycle for free.
According to UWPD, the program is meant to keep cyclists safe as well as help them avoid a $150 fine under Wisconsin state law for improper bike lighting.
UWPD will be on campus tomorrow starting at 6:30 p.m. to enforce the installation of front lights on all bikes across campus.
