Alpha Sigma Phi suspended following hazing allegations

UW-Madison suspended the Alpha Sigma Phi Kappa fraternity chapter for hazing allegations Friday.

The chapter violated the Student Organization Code of Conduct as new members were coerced to wear “Dora the Explorer” backpacks, carry fruit around campus and run errands for the older members.

For the next few months, they can no longer hold events and activities. This also bars them from having the same rights and privileges as other Registered Student Organizations.

However, they have the right to appeal the university’s decision to the Division of Student life.

Their suspension lasts through March 24. The chapter will then be on general probation until Dec. 11.
