This time next year, Smith Hall will welcome a full-service Starbucks.
The chain coffee shop will replace Newell’s Deli, which currently offers students a variety of food options, including late-night specials such as Taco Tuesday and Wing Wednesday.
Newell’s will remain open until the current school year comes to a close when renovations will begin on the space, according to a press release.
“We survey our students every year about their dining experience on campus,” Peter Testory, Director of University Housing Dining & Culinary Services said in the release. “Reinventing the dining space in Smith Hall was something they suggested.”
Currently, Newell’s is closed on the weekends. The new Starbucks is anticipated to be open seven days a week, 7:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m.
“We use the valuable feedback from the students to help guide our decisions, and we’re really excited to add this new type of service for our residents,” Testory said.
The new Starbucks location will be staffed by University Housing employees, according to a report by the Cap Times.
