The City of Madison declared a snow emergency Sunday with citywide plowing operations scheduled to begin at 10 p.m.
As of Sunday afternoon, Madison received 5.5 inches of snow, reported WKOW 27 News.
Alternate side parking restrictions will be in effect Sunday evening starting at 1 a.m. for the designated snow emergency zones, as well as the rest of Madison.
“All Madison residents are encouraged to choose off-street parking options for their vehicles and trailers starting today, February 9, and lasting through February 11,” according to a city news release. “Fewer obstacles in the road means plowing operations will be safer, faster and more complete.”
The city also reminded residents to park vehicles in the snow emergency zone overnight and abide by alternate side parking rules during the declared emergency. Those who do not may be ticketed and towed.
The snow emergency will remain in effect until Tuesday morning.
Additional information on plowing operations and guides on parking can be found on the city’s website or by calling the winter parking hotline at 608-261-9111.
