A water main break Tuesday night led to the temporary closure of multiple buildings on the UW-Madison campus.
The UW-Madison Police Department issued a WiscAlert on Wednesday at approximately 6:30 a.m. informing students of the water main break, which occurred at Henry Mall.
The Engineering Centers and Material Science and Engineering Buildings were closed until noon on Wednesday due to water damage and electrical failures. WiscAlerts also mentioned “steam shutdowns to buildings on the Engineering campus and the Camp Randall complex,” which includes The Shell and Kellner Hall.
UW-Madison personnel warned students to be careful near Engineering Drive — ice is a probable effect of remaining floodwater in the area due to Madison temperatures.
Classes in the affected locations have been relocated to accessible classrooms and lecture halls nearby for the time being.
