The No. 1 Wisconsin Badgers and No. 3 Minnesota Golden Gophers have agreed to postpone their two game series in Minneapolis this weekend due to an outbreak of COVID-19 cases within the Badgers’ program, the schools announced Friday morning.
This comes after the Badgers split a series against the No. 4 Ohio State Buckeyes the weekend prior, and were on the ice without any rumors of COVID-19 as recently as last Sunday. It is unclear whether the positive test results are from players, coaches or other members of the program.
According to a tweet from the WCHA, the series will be postponed and played at a later date that has not yet been determined.
No players or staff from Wisconsin have commented on the matter as of Friday afternoon.
The Badgers are next slated to take on No. 7 Minnesota Duluth in Madison on Dec. 11-12, though obviously those games are in question after today’s set of news.
