The Wisconsin Alumni Student Board started virtually hosting their annual “All Campus Party” Monday to further involve campus members with the community.
WASB is the UW-Madison student organization in partnership with the Wisconsin Alumni Association that focuses on campus engagement and community involvement. The “All Campus Party” is WASB’s annual week-long initiative to gather “the nation’s largest cost-free and alcohol alternative campus celebration.” This year’s events feature a virtual drawing class, a REDTalk discussion and a virtual concert.
“It’s a really awesome week where there are a lot of activities going on and a lot of ways for people to get involved and get to do things on campus that they might not normally do,” said UW-Madison sophomore and WASB member Carly Jennings.
The REDTalk will be hosted by Victoria Garrick, a former Division I volleyball player and mental health advocate, on mental health and body positivity on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. Registration to receive the event link is available online.
Other week-long initiatives include WASB’s virtual card signing to thank UW-Hospital workers and opportunities to donate money and products for the “All Campus Party” menstrual product drive.
In preparation for the future, WASB started accepting applications for next year’s team to plan the All Campus Party and other events held throughout the year, including the W Project, Founder’s Day and Bend it Like Bucky.
“WASB is a really cool student organization that is all about celebrating students on campus and bringing the campus together,” said Jennings. “We do a lot of stuff to connect professors and students and alumni and students to get everybody really excited about being on campus.”
Students who are interested in applying to join WASB can apply on their website through Sunday, April 25.
“We’re all very dedicated to look for problems and see if there is any way that we can solve them or at least find ways to give resources to students and to bring the campus together,” Jennings said. “If you’re really into service and you’re really passionate about Wisconsin and you want to find a new group of people that is dedicated to service and bettering the people around you, it’s a really cool organization to join.”
