Police were seen chasing a white sedan around the downtown and campus areas of Madison Tuesday.
At roughly five minutes to one, a white sedan with a broken right headlight sped through the intersection of East Campus Mall and University Ave., pursued by a police vehicle. The driver was continually honking as he drove through the intersection in the bus lane. The car then turned onto Lake St., only to come back down University driving against traffic minutes later.
Students around campus reported hearing sirens throughout the afternoon. It is unclear if the chase is being led by the University of Wisconsin Police Department or The Madison Police Department.
At roughly 3:15 p.m., students heard sirens in the vicinity of Camp Randall. A witness walking towards University Ave. reported seeing a car with four flat tires speeding by, pursued by police.
No incident report has been made available by MPD or UWPD as of yet. Neither department has issued a statement, nor have students received a WiscAlert. When contacted, UWPD directed questions to the Dane County Police Department, who then redirected to MPD. MPD did not respond.
