Explicit photos and video of the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s 2021 volleyball team were leaked online this week. The photos and video were taken right after the team won the 2021 Big 10 championship in November.
According to a UW Athletics statement, UW Athletics are aware of the photos and video circulating digitally. They were not intended to be shared publicly.
“The unauthorized sharing is a significant and wrongful invasion of the student-athletes’ privacy, including potential violations of university policies and criminal statutes,” the athletic department said in the statement.
Marc Lovicott confirmed UWPD is involved and investigating the photos and video.
UWPD is investigating multiple crimes relating to the release of these videos and photos without consent, according to the UW Athletics statement.
The statement further expressed UWPD is not planning to investigate the volleyball student-athletes for this incident.
