A police search for a man with a knife in the Langdon Street area near the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus is now resolved, according to an alert released by the university on the BadgerSAFE app.
It’s unclear what the status of the suspect is, but simply that the matter is “resolved.” The alert confirmed that it is safe to resume normal activities.
Another alert confirmed police were still searching for the individual about half an hour later and recommended that individuals stay inside.
Information obtained by The Daily Cardinal on police radio frequencies confirmed that authorities were searching for a suspect Sunday evening.
“We did a ping on the suspect's phone, and it came back within a quarter-mile radius of the 100 block of State Street,” police dispatchers said at around 8:45 p.m.
Initial reports indicate the individual may be around 40 years old in a tan Carhartt sweater and green sweatpants.
Although unclear if it’s related, police said on the radio an individual reported being attacked and requested an ambulance.
Police efforts continued in the area, including K-9 units and drones, radio reports confirmed.
