Former Central Arkansas guard Camren Hunter has signed with the Wisconsin Badgers men’s Basketball team, the team announced in a press release Sunday.
Hunter, a junior, has two years left of eligibility due to an injury that kept him on the bench for the entirety of the 2023-24 season.
In his freshman season at Central Arkansas, he was named Atlantic Sun Conference Freshman of the Year and averaged 14.1 points, 4.9 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game. His sophomore season saw an improvement, with Hunter averaging 16.9 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game.
“His skill set is a great addition to our team, but what also stood out to us is his character and work ethic,” head coach Greg Gard said. “When watching Camren's game, we feel that he has a Big Ten body at the guard position that will translate here.”
The addition of Hunter to the team follows the high-profile exits of AJ Storr and Chucky Hepburn among others who have entered the transfer portal.
After an upset first-round exit in this year's March Madness Tournament, the Badgers are looking to rebuild after losing a few players to the transfer portal, and Hunter is their first major move toward filling those gaps.
