Former Northern Illinois forward Xavier Amos has committed to the Wisconsin men’s basketball team, Amos announced on Twitter Monday.
The Badgers were in need of a forward after Tyler Wahl exhausted his eligibility and AJ Storr entered the transfer portal in late March.
Amos played two seasons at Northern Illinois. During his sophomore season he averaged 13.8 points, 5.8 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game while shooting just under 39% from three.
Amos played only eight games his freshman year due to injury and has two years of eligibility left, but he could gain an additional year if he applies for a medical redshirt.
Amos is a crafty forward who excels finishing around the rim but is also a knockdown shooter from beyond the arc. His shooting threat should improve the overall spacing from the previous year.
Amos shot over 20% better from three than Tyler Wahl did last year.
He joins Camren Hunter as the second transfer to a growing Wisconsin transfer class that seeks to make up for outgoing Badger basketball players.
