Wisconsin Badgers vs Rutgers Scarlet Knights 03.07.24

Badgers Claw Their Way to Victory Over Scarlet Knights in men's basketball

Wisconsin stars AJ Storr, Chucky Hepburn finding new homes

Wisconsin star player Chucky Hepburn entered the transfer portal and AJ Storr committed to Kansas.

Two Wisconsin Badgers men’s basketball starters, AJ Storr and Chucky Hepburn, are leaving the Badgers.

Storr, originally a 2023 transfer from St. John's, entered the portal on March 28.

"The memories, lessons, and friendships I've made here will forever be a part of who I am. Thank you, Badger Nation, for everything," Storr said in an X post.

Storr, the third top transfer prospect according to 247 Sports, led the Badgers this season, averaging 17 points and four rebounds en route to a Big Ten Championship appearance where they ultimately fell short to Illinois. He ended the season earning all-Big Ten honors.

Originally receiving a crystal ball prediction to transfer to Illinois — he was raised in Rockford, Illinois — it shocked many this morning when Shams Charania of The Athletic reported that he had chosen to play for Kansas while "John Calipari's Arkansas, Illinois, Texas were finalists."

Storr has declared for the NBA Draft but is projected to be drafted after next year.

Chucky Hepburn was also reported to have entered the transfer portal as of April 18, reported first by Jeff Borzello of ESPN.

Chucky, a fan favorite, averaged nine points and four assists per game last year as a starter. Currently, there's no indication as to where he'll go, but he'll undoubtedly generate interest from many top-tier programs across the country.

The Badgers have lost Connor Essegian, Luke Haertle, Gus Yalden, Ross Candelino and Isaac Lindsey to the portal this year and have no transfers currently coming into the program.
