Bus pass pickup moves to Ogg Hall due to long lines at Union South

University of Wisconsin-Madison Transportation Services announced changes to bus pass pickup location and hours Friday evening after long lines crowded Union South.

The Associated Students of Madison student bus pass pickup will change from Union South to Ogg Hall on Monday, according to an email from UW Transportation Services to all students sent at 10 p.m. Friday.

Bus pass pickup times and dates also changed, with pickup open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. — one hour earlier than previous hours — and extended an extra week until Sept. 20.

Long lines inside an already busy Union South were a major factor in the decision to move locations, Transportation Services marketing specialist Lauren Hawley said in an email to The Daily Cardinal.

“Transportation Services decided to relocate the student bus pass pickup location to Ogg Hall, a larger location to help facilitate pickup in a more efficient manner,” Hawley said.

Organizers also wanted to give students ample notice before the new location opened on Monday, Hawley said.

“We recognize a late Friday message is not ideal, but we sent the email as soon as possible after the plans to relocate to Ogg Hall were settled on Friday,” Hawley said.

Starting this fall, students must pre-order their bus pass prior to pick-up. The new reusable tap-fare passes comply with updates to Madison Metro transit buses and last until students graduate instead of requiring a semesterly pickup.
