The Wisconsin Badgers women’s basketball team returned to action on the road in Minneapolis for a border battle against No. 23 Minnesota Sunday. Despite the hard-fought first half, the Badgers fell 71-50.
Junior forward Serah Williams led the Badgers with 16 points. Graduate student guard Tess Myers added nine points of her own. The Badgers’ bench outscored the Gophers bench 8-3.
The first half of this game was neck-and-neck between these two teams with baskets coming from both teams. The Gophers had a few go-ahead buckets, but nothing the Badgers couldn’t tackle. Thanks to a few key stops and a huge three-pointer from Myers, the Badgers kept it tied 28-28 at the half.
In the second half of this game, the score tipped in favor of the Gophers. The Badgers’ offense didn’t come out with that same spark they had in the first half. Even with their fight to close out the third quarter, the Gophers left no room for a comeback and cruised through the fourth quarter to a 71-50 win over the Badgers.
The Badgers record moves to an even .500 at 10-10. They take on the No. 24 Michigan Wolverines at home Wednesday.
