Nolan Winter has been one of the most productive players for the Wisconsin men’s basketball team in 2025. After a quality season as a rotation player in 2024, Winter has blossomed into a centerpiece on the consistently top-ranked team in the country.
As a true freshman last season, the Lakeville, Minnesota native played in all 36 games, averaging nine minutes with 2.4 points per game. Overall, Nolan contributed to their Big Ten Tournament runner-up outcome last season in crucial ways.
Winter earned the everyday starting power forward for the Badgers this season, and he has flourished in this new role. In 27 games, he is averaging 10 points and 5.6 rebounds per game. Winter is an effective shooter, averaging 57.1% from the field and 37.1% from three. He also leads the Big Ten in two-point percentage at 70.1.
He scored a career-best 20 points against Butler on Dec. 14, complemented by eight rebounds, three of which were offensive.
The most impactful performance of Winter’s season came against the Badgers’ Jan. 3 blowout win over Iowa. He scored 18 points, shooting 8-for-11 and grabbed eight rebounds.
Winter has cemented himself as one of the Badgers’ most impactful players in 2025, capitalizing on both his size and shooting ability. He perfectly fits into Wisconsin’s high-powered offense.
With his incredible development this season and potential still sky high, retaining Winter is a high priority for Wisconsin this off-season.
