Suspect arrested after WiscAlerts sent to students about individual with a knife early Monday morning

The University of Wisconsin-Madison Police Department responded to a report of an armed individual threatening another individual on East Campus Mall.

The University of Wisconsin-Madison Police Department (UWPD)issued multiple WiscAlerts to students early Monday morning notifying students and staff about reports of a man who brandished a knife at a victim on 105 East Campus Mall.

The alert, sent at midnight, urged all individuals to avoid the area as police were on scene investigating. UWPD reported that the suspect was last seen heading south bound toward Regent Street. 

UWPD arrested the suspect, according to an update released on their social media platforms at 10:30 a.m. The suspect is being booked into the Dane County Jail for disorderly conduct with a dangerous weapon enhancer. The suspect has no affiliation with UW-Madison.

Three more WiscAlerts were sent out between midnight and 1:42 a.m. alerting students and staff that the investigation was ongoing.
