On Feb. 3, the Badger women’s ice hockey team skated out on the ice of the Kohl Center to a crowd seven times larger than the capacity of their usual LaBahn Arena. This was the seventh “Fill the Bowl” night — a game that contends for the NCAA’s most-attended women’s hockey game every time it’s played — and the first since the Badgers tied Ohio State 1-1 in 2020 in front of 14,361 fans.

Wisconsin had beat Rutgers in three sets (25-13, 25-12, 25-12) just a week prior at the UW Field House. On Friday, Wisconsin (23-3, 17-1 Big Ten) faced Rutgers again (7-21, 1-15 Big Ten) and dominated offensively with almost double the amount of kills. Wisconsin started off with a strong 8-0 lead, which included a service ace from Izzy Ashburn, two kills by Devyn Robinson, one kill by Julia Orzol and four blocks.

In late September, Wisconsin lost 0-3 to Minnesota in Minneapolis – the Badgers’ first and only Big Ten loss. In the nine games since, Wisconsin dropped only five of 27 sets. The Badgers’ win against the Gophers is their 10th in a row, tied with Ohio State for the longest streak in the conference.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers just recently claimed the No. 1 spot in the nation over Texas, heading into the match with an 18-1 overall record and 10-0 in the Big Ten. Nebraska is the toughest and highest ranked competition the Wisconsin Badgers have faced this season, but not only did Wisconsin get the win — they managed to do it in three sets, 25-23, 25-23, 25-18. These two teams are now tied for first in the Big Ten at 10-1 alongside Ohio State.

The Wisconsin Badgers volleyball team finished their away series with a sweep in Iowa on Friday, Oct. 14, taking the match 27-25, 25-15 and 25-19. The Badgers dominated the Hawkeyes – holding them to a hitting percentage of less than .180.
