Almost a month into Big Ten play, the Badgers have moved in to sole possession of first place even after their baffling loss at Rutgers. Now, we take a look at the teams right behind UW in Big Ten contention, and the next few who are definitely still in the conversation. Sorry, Minnesota.

Men's Basketball: Badgers escape in OT at Michigan

Less than a week ago, it looked like No. 6 Wisconsin’s Saturday opponent, Michigan, was dead in the water. The Wolverines (5-3 Big Ten, 12-8 overall) lost their star player Caris Levert, seemingly ruining a season that was already looking forgettable. The Badgers (6-1, 18-2) were going to get to throw Frank Kaminsky and company at a big man rotation consisting of two unheralded freshmen and a 6-foot-7 junior.

Men's Basketball: Domination down low trumps Cal

Playing its first game in nine days, one might have expected No. 6 Wisconsin to look a little rusty against California. However, the Badgers (11-1) picked up right where they left off, defeating the Golden Bears (10-2) 68-56 Monday night at Haas Pavilion.
