Men's Basketball: Wisconsin controls glass in season-opening win

Size matters? It does in basketball, and that is exactly what Southeastern Louisiana (0-1 overall) lacked Sunday, dressing no players listed above 6-foot-8 and losing to Wisconsin (1-0 overall), 87-47. The Badgers exploited their size advantage all game, leading them to their 11th straight regular-season-opening win.

Women's Basketball: Wisconsin tops Milwaukee

The Wisconsin women’s basketball team (1-0 overall) hosted Milwaukee (1-1) in what appeared to be an evenly matched game Sunday night. Both teams struggled last season, the Badgers going 9-20 and the Panthers 9-21. To add to the suspense, Milwaukee head coach Kyle Rechlicz is a former player and assistant coach at Wisconsin. The night concluded with a 74-56 victory for the Badgers.

Men's Basketball: Badgers moving on after Gasser injury

The Wisconsin men’s basketball got through the 2011-’12 season almost entirely healthy, but this year the Badgers have already suffered two serious injuries before the regular season has even started. The most recent and most severe of these injuries happened at practice Saturday morning, when junior guard Josh Gasser tore his ACL.

Ryan names Gasser starting point guard

Often, preseason media days are over hyped and full of manufactured headlines. But for the Wisconsin faithful, the 2012 men’s basketball edition provided some real news as head coach Bo Ryan immediately named junior guard Josh Gasser the Badgers’ starting point guard for the team’s exhibition opener Nov. 7.
