UWPD involved in pedestrian incident near Humanities building

The UW-Madison Police Department was involved in a pedestrian-vehicle collision on campus Thursday afternoon, according to a UWPD release. According to the release, the occupant of a vehicle stopped at a routine traffic stop and fled her vehicle around 2:30 p.m. Thursday. The suspect — a 15-year-old girl — ran across Park Street toward the Humanities Building when she was struck by a separate UWPD squad vehicle entering the building parking lot.

Arrests made in battery incident outside residence hall

UW-Madison Police Department arrested three suspects Tuesday in connection to the battery incident that occurred outside a UW-Madison residence hall last week. According to a university police report, a UW-Madison student was injured following a fight outside Sellery Hall last Friday. The fight stemmed from another confrontation earlier in the evening at a downtown bar. The victim in the battery suffered a broken wrist and a concussion as a result of the altercation, according to the report.


UW-Madison Police Department arrested a man in child abuse case, Sunday night.

A battery reportedly involving a UW-Madison student outside a residence hall early Friday morning, according to a UW-Madison Crime Warning issued Saturday afternoon. The warning said the UW-Madison Police Department received the report Saturday and are actively investigating the incident.

Controversial political commentator speaks on Judeo-Christian morality

UW-Madison students and community members gathered Wednesday in Sterling Hall to listen to conservative political commentator Dennis Prager speak on Judeo-Christian morality. During the event hosted by the Young Americans for Freedom, Prager discussed topics ranging from racism to “gender dysphoria.” Prager’s main concern in his “commencement address you won't hear from your school” was the question of how to make good people.

Incoming students largely choosing more expensive tier meal plan, data show

The majority of first-year students living in residence halls in the upcoming semester are selecting high-tiered options in the new meal plan program unveiled by University Dining, according to documents obtained by The Daily Cardinal. A document distributed at a meeting between a dining shared governance group and University Dining officials revealed that 73.66 percent of the 4,511 students who have signed their housing contracts for the fall chose to deposit a minimum of $2,100 onto their WisCard exclusively for on-campus dining.

Sunburst chairs to return to Memorial Union Terrace

It is that time of year again. The Memorial Union Terrace will celebrate the warm weather Tuesday by returning its popular sunburst chairs to their lakeside home at 4:30 p.m., the Wisconsin Union announced Monday. The Union will begin Terrace season — an almost 90-year-old tradition — by inviting UW-Madison students and community members to line up at the North Park Street entrance to the Terrace at 3:30 p.m. Each person in line will pick up a chair to take onto the Terrace, kicking off the 2018 Terrace season.

Student org to bring controversial talk show host to campus

A UW-Madison conservative student organization will bring political commentator Dennis Prager, a talk show host who has drawn controversy over remarks criticizing gay marriage and the AIDS crisis, to campus next week to discuss Judeo-Christian Morality. The event — hosted by Young Americans for Freedom — is scheduled highlight the foundational principles of Judeo-Christian morality including the Ten Commandments and how they have impacted the construction of Western culture.
