The Elders-in-Residence Program hosted by the UW-Madison American Indian Studies Department welcomed spring Elder Leland Wigg Wednesday. Upon starting in 2018, the program aims to advance the experience of American Indian and Alaskan Native students by hosting Native elders.
Beloved UW-Madison Varsity Band Director Mike Leckrone faces his final curtain call this weekend at the band’s annual spring concert at the Kohl Center. For 50 years, Leckrone has been directing the band on the Madison campus, bleeding Badger pride with every musical note. After half of a century of endless rehearsals and performances, he will conduct his final shows this Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
The UW-Madison Lakeshore Nature Preserve is currently updating their decade-old master plan by creating a comprehensive strategic planning process to guide the use and management of the preserve. In 2006, the preserve created a master plan with the goal of protecting its natural features and providing enjoyment for the community. The UW-Madison student who assaulted a university police officer in Witte Residence Hall earlier this week now faces two felony charges. UW-Madison freshman Logan Mitchell could be charged with battery to an officer after he struck a UW-Madison Police Department officer in the face during an altercation early Sunday morning, causing him significant bodily harm. Mitchell also faces a misdemeanor for resisting an officer.
The Society of Women Engineers held a welding seminar where women in the engineering college were able to come to the Technical Education and Manufacturing lab and make their own union chairs on Tuesday evening. Emily Theirri, a sophomore majoring in biological systems engineering, ran the seminar, stating that it helps “get women involved in some more technical education.”
