Athletic department partners with Lyft

UW-Madison Athletics is now partnered with Lyft, a rideshare company, providing community members with an alternative form of transportation on Badger game days. Through the partnership, Lyft will have designated pick-up and drop-off locations at the Kohl Center and Camp Randall.

Campus spaces memorializing KKK fraternity members likely to see name change, following Union Council vote

Wisconsin Union spaces that memorialized former Ku Klux Klan fraternity members could receive new names this fall, if UW-Madison Chancellor Rebecca Blank approves the Union Council resolution passed in a 7-2 vote Monday night. The council’s resolution comes after a summer’s worth of discussion and debate surrounding the Porter Butts Gallery and the Fredric March Play Circle, after a report published last spring linked those spaces’ namesakes to a 1920s campus fraternity called the Ku Klux Klan.


A number of physical altercations occurred near campus over the weekend, including a fight at Bassett Street Brunch Club and a substantial battery on N.

UWPD involved in pedestrian incident near Humanities building

The UW-Madison Police Department was involved in a pedestrian-vehicle collision on campus Thursday afternoon, according to a UWPD release. According to the release, the occupant of a vehicle stopped at a routine traffic stop and fled her vehicle around 2:30 p.m. Thursday. The suspect — a 15-year-old girl — ran across Park Street toward the Humanities Building when she was struck by a separate UWPD squad vehicle entering the building parking lot.

Arrests made in battery incident outside residence hall

UW-Madison Police Department arrested three suspects Tuesday in connection to the battery incident that occurred outside a UW-Madison residence hall last week. According to a university police report, a UW-Madison student was injured following a fight outside Sellery Hall last Friday. The fight stemmed from another confrontation earlier in the evening at a downtown bar. The victim in the battery suffered a broken wrist and a concussion as a result of the altercation, according to the report.

Battery reported outside UW-Madison residence hall

A battery reportedly involving a UW-Madison student outside a residence hall early Friday morning, according to a UW-Madison Crime Warning issued Saturday afternoon. The warning said the UW-Madison Police Department received the report Saturday and are actively investigating the incident.
