Showing no signs of looking ahead to next week’s divisional showdown with Nebraska, No. 25 Wisconsin rolled to a 34-16 victory over Purdue Saturday in West Lafayette, Indiana.
This would be the calm before the storm in the Big Ten, as division supremacy will reveal itself in the next two weeks, Ohio State vs. Michigan State and Nebraska vs. Wisconsin.
1. Impenetrable defense
The expectations for Purdue under second-year head coach Darell Hazell weren’t high after winning just one game last season, but it is fair to say the team is disappointed with their 3-6 start. They have played better than their record indicates.

The Badgers had just scored, going up 27-0, and a desperate Rutgers looked to drive down the field and stay in a game that was getting out of hand. On the first play, quarterback Gary Nova dropped back and was dropped by redshirt sophomore Vince Biegel, who jumped up, celebrating yet another sack, with his mullet flowing in the wind. Biegel is one of many freshmen and sophomores making plays for the Wisconsin defense.
No. 4 Alabama at No. 14 LSU
Following a thorough 37-0 bashing of Rutgers last week, Wisconsin will take on Big Ten West opponent Purdue Saturday in West Lafayette, Indiana.
The era in which Bo Burnham was reigning over YouTube and Vine with comedic brilliance and scathing (yet joyfully crude) social commentary with “Words, Words, Words” was an era that unfortunately completely bypassed me.
PISCATAWAY, N.J. – On a cold, windy day in unfamiliar territory, the Wisconsin Badgers played a very familiar game en route to a 37-0 shutout of the Rutgers Scarlet Knights.
Cornerback Sojourn Shelton made it clear in 2013 that he joined the Wisconsin football team not to patiently wait behind veteran members of the secondary for playing time, but to immediately step into a starting role and establish himself as one of the best players on UW’s defense.
As the regular season continues to head down its final stretch, the landscape of college football remains in relative disarray. With Ole Miss’ loss to LSU, only three unbeaten teams are left, and numerous conference races are still completely up for grabs.
1. The development of the two-quarterback system
The biggest development from last week was the clear establishment of a big four for the conference, resulting from a convincing beatdown by Wisconsin. Michigan State and Nebraska also impressed, while Ohio State let things get a little too close for comfort.

Rutgers’ inaugural Big Ten season looked at first to be one to remember, but it is quickly turning into one the fan base will want to forget. The Scarlet Knights (1-3 Big Ten, 5-3 overall) have gotten clobbered in their last two games leading up to their contest against the Badgers.
After obliterating conference newcomer Maryland last week, Wisconsin will face another Big Ten rookie this Saturday when the Badgers take on Rutgers in Piscataway Township, N.J.
In the team’s most complete effort of the season, Wisconsin thoroughly dominated Maryland in a 52-7 victory Saturday at Camp Randall.
