VoteFest to promote civic engagement among students

UW-Madison will host a week-long VoteFest to encourage students to vote. The Morgridge Center for Public Services will hold VoteFest from Oct. 22-27 in an effort to encourage students to be civically involved and continue to be engaged after graduating.


The Transfer Transition Program is holding a week-long celebration of transfer students.

UW-Madison dedicates week to appreciating transfer students

More than one in three undergraduate students has transferred to a different college, according to the Transfer Transition Program website. In order to make transfer students feel more welcome, UW-Madison is celebrating National Transfer Student Week to spread positivity and inclusion to transfer students.


Madison Police Chief Mike Koval and Dane County District Attorney Ismael Ozanne traded blows online today following Koval’s blog post that criticized the juvenile justice system.

Madison police chief, Dane County DA trade criticisms over juvenile justice system

Two of Madison’s top law enforcement officials traded public criticisms online Tuesday, chastising each other for their treatment of juvenile offenders. The dispute began when Madison Police Chief Mike Koval released his daily blog post, in which he expressed concern about the increasing frequency of “juveniles engaged in serious, illegal behavior[s].” Koval cast doubt on whether the "failing" juvenile justice system actually held offenders accountable for their actions.
