Tsipis retains Palmer as assistant coach

Wisconsin women’s basketball head coach Jonathan Tsipis publically announced the first member of his staff Friday afternoon, tweeting that Sasha Palmer has been retained as an assistant coach for next season. Palmer, a Watertown, Wis., native, returned to her home state this past season after two years at Syracuse.

Gard promotes Paris, finalizes staff

After adding a new assistant last week, Wisconsin head coach Greg Gard officially finalized his coaching staff for the 2016-’17 season Tuesday afternoon. Gard will retain assistants Lamont Paris and Howard Moore, who will be joined by recent hire Joe Krabbenhoft, and director of basketball operations Kat Vosters, according to a university press release. “I’m very excited to be able to keep Lamont, Howard and Kat on staff,” Gard said in a statement.

Badgers prepare for next edition of Border Battle

Coming off a heartbreaking loss to Purdue in the series finale, Wisconsin (4-4-1 Big Ten, 19-16-1 overall) heads on the road to No. 22 Minnesota (8-1, 27-10) for a doubleheader Tuesday. Weather was again a factor in the Purdue series, causing the postponement of Friday’s game and forcing a Saturday doubleheader.

Former Badger running back Montee Ball arrested for second time in two months

Wisconsin’s all-time leader in rushing touchdowns found himself in legal trouble once again this weekend, as Montee Ball was arrested on a felony bail jumping violation, according to WKOW. This comes two months after he was arrested on a felony battery charge in early February. According to the report, Ball had a court order to not consume alcohol or enter a bar, and police encountered the former running back at a tavern in Whitewater, Wis.

Badgers blow no-hitter, lose series finale to Purdue

The Badgers were just one out away from a no-hitter and a series win over Purdue. However, they were unable to finish the job, letting a historic moment and a victory slip away. Wisconsin was edged 3-2 by the Boilermakers Sunday afternoon at the Goodman Diamond. Both teams struggled on offense, with the game’s first hit not coming until the bottom of the fourth inning.


The Badgers are off to a phenomenal start, winning their 20th game of the season last weekend.

Badgers split doubleheader with Purdue in impressive offensive showing

Wisconsin (4-3-1 Big Ten, 19-15-1 overall) split its doubleheader against Purdue, winning game one 9-5 and dropping game two 5-4 Saturday afternoon at Goodman Diamond. Purdue (4-6, 22-17) jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead in the top of the first, but a nice double play started by sophomore third baseman Kelsey Jenkins ended the inning.

Four Badgers earn academic honor

Alex Erickson, Tyler Marz, Joel Stave and Derek Watt were named to the Hampshire Honor Society Thursday, according to a UW press release. The Hampshire Honor Society, a ten-year-old recognition for college football players with a cumulative 3.2 grade-point average, is commissioned by the National Football Foundation. According to NFF President and CEO Steve Hatchell, “The Hampshire Society plays an important role in highlighting that college football players clearly play a leadership role in the classroom as well as on the playing field.

On Monday night, Kris Jenkins got to live out the dream of every kid who plays basketball growing up. Just seconds after seeing North Carolina’s Marcus Paige bury an off-balanced, double-clutch three to tie the game with 4.7 seconds remaining, Ryan Arcidiacono brought the ball up the court for Villanova.

Gard welcomes Krabbenhoft to the Badgers’ bench

When UW head coach Greg Gard offered him a spot on his coaching staff, it didn’t take Joe Krabbenhoft long to accept the opportunity to return to his alma mater. “It was the easiest decision I’ve made since I said ‘yeah’ back in 2004 to come play here,” Krabbenhoft said during a media session Tuesday.
