The Wisconsin women's basketball team (6-5 Big Ten, 16-5 overall) is recovering from a tough loss at home to the Northwestern Wildcats last Sunday night. After leading by as many as 14 points in the first half, the Badgers ultimately fell by six. The loss was their second consecutive defeat at the Kohl Center.

A couple weeks ago when Charles Woodson was announced as the Defensive Player of the Year, Rex Ryan, the head coach of the New York Jets, was asked about the decision. If Ryan followed the rules of coach speak, he would have told reporters he was hoping his cornerback Darrelle Revis would win the award, but that Charles Woodson is a great player and he respects the decision.

While most students enjoyed a nice snow day after a blizzard swept through Madison last December, crews at Camp Randall Stadium worked to keep the field and stands clear of snow to get ready for this weekend's Camp Randall Hockey Classic. Thanks in part to their work, Patrick Seltsman and Ice Rink Events were able to construct a playing surface in the middle of a football stadium in little more than a week.

The NHL's Winter Classic is on its way to becoming a New Year's Day tradition, and with college teams getting on the bandwagon, the potential for games in great venues—such as the ones that will take place Saturday—is only increasing.
