Coming off a sweep of Bemidji State last weekend, the No. 1 Wisconsin women’s hockey team (4-0-0-0 WCHA, 10-0-0 overall) will battle the Minnesota Golden Gophers (5-1-0-0 WHCA, 9-1-0 overall) this weekend. The two Border Battle rivals will face off at Ritter Arena in Minneapolis.
On Wednesday, the Wisconsin Badgers (0-4-2 Big Ten, 2-10-3 overall) will be facing off against Northwestern Wildcats (3-3-1 Big Ten, 7-7-1 overall).
After guaranteeing at least a share of the Big Ten regular season title with a 1-0 win over Illinois in their last match, the No. 10 Wisconsin Badgers (9-0-1 Big Ten, 13-2-2 overall) had a chance to clinch outright on Sunday with a draw or win against the Northwestern Wildcats (3-6-2 Big Ten, 5-10-3 overall) in Evanston.
The Wisconsin Badgers women’s hockey team (3-0-0 WCHA, 10-0-0 overall) took down the Bemidji State Beavers (2-2-0 WCHA, 3-4-1 overall) by a score of 4-1 on Sunday afternoon, completing a weekend sweep.
With two wins this week, a 2-0 win over Nebraska at home, and a 1-0 road win over Illinois, the No. 10 Wisconsin Badgers (8-0-1 Big Ten, 12-2-2) remained undefeated in conference play and clinched a share of the Big Ten championship with two games still remaining on the regular season.
In the opening game of their series against Bemidji State (2-1-0 WCHA, 3-3-1 overall), No. 1 Wisconsin (3-0-0 WHCA, 9-0-0 overall) earned a 4-1 win against the unranked Beavers, in the Badger’s first home WCHA game of the season.
Friday, the University of Wisconsin-Madison Badgers (0-4-1 Big Ten, 2-10-2 overall) face the Michigan Wolverines (2-1-2 Big Ten, 7-4-3 Overall) at Michigan. The Badgers are coming off a close 1-2 loss to Penn State this week, while Michigan won in a close game 1-0 against Notre Dame in their last outing.
In yet another sweep, the No. 1 Wisconsin Badgers (8-0-0, 2-0-0 WCHA) beat out the Long Island University Sharks (0-4-0, 0-0-0 NEWHA) 10-2 on Oct. 18, and 12-0 on Oct. 19.
The Wisconsin Badgers hosted the Penn State Nittany Lions for a 7 p.m. kickoff at the McClimon sports complex on Saturday. The Nittany Lions came into the game looking to extend their winning streak to three straight games, while the Badgers came into the game trying to turn around a recent sticky run of form.
Just a week ago, the visiting Michigan State Spartans had enjoyed the craze that is the tradition of Jump Around at Camp Randall, even in the midst of being shutout 17-0.
It was hard to envision the No. 6 Wisconsin Badgers (11-4 overall, 7-0 Big 10) being pushed to five sets by the No. 17 Illinois Fighting Illini (9-7 overall, 4-3 Big 10) going into the night. When the Illini won sets two and three, however, Wisconsin’s spotless conference record was very much in doubt.
The No. 10 Wisconsin Badgers (6-0-1 Big Ten, 10-2-2 overall) continued their undefeated start to Big Ten play, drawing 2-2 with the Iowa Hawkeyes (5-3-1 Big Ten, 13-3-1 overall) after two overtime periods.
When then-No. 19 Wisconsin left campus for their season opener in South Florida back in August, there was a significantly smaller spotlight on the team.
The University of Wisconsin-Madison women’s hockey team (2-0-0 WCHA, 4-0-0 overall) maintained their No. 1 overall ranking after two wins against top-ten Ohio State last weekend. Now, their sights are set on the Long Island University Sharks (0-2-0 overall) this weekend.
“We want to be like the monsters of the midway, we want to be the no-name defense of the Dolphins,” Senior linebacker Chris Orr said.
The No. 1 Wisconsin Badger women’s hockey team (6-0-0, 2-0-0 WCHA) swept the No. 8 Ohio State Buckeyes (4-2-0, 0-0-2 WCHA) in their away series this weekend. The win on Saturday marked head coach Mark Johnson’s 500th career win as a Wisconsin women’s hockey coach, making him the first NCAA women’s hockey coach to reach that milestone.
In an impressive showing, the No. 7 Wisconsin Badgers (10-4, 6-0) dominated the No. 6 Minnesota Golden Gophers (11-3, 5-1) in the Field House, winning by a score of three sets to none.
Michigan State (4-3 overall, 2-2 Big Ten) came to Madison, Wisconsin on Saturday, hoping to be the first team to solve No. 8 Wisconsin’s (6-0 overall, 3-0 Big Ten) defense in 2019. But, four quarters later the Spartans left Camp Randall without an answer.
Two weeks ago, Northwestern became the first team to frustrate the Badger offense. Jonathan Taylor couldn’t break a big off any big runs and Jack Coan looked flustered. Their struggles weren’t because Northwestern was aggressive, but instead a result of a more conservative approach to Wisconsin’s offense.
Michigan State has had a very up and down season to this point. They started off the season with two dominant performances against Tulsa and Western Michigan, combing for 79 points, boosting their ranking to No. 18.
