After a devastating blow of 38-13 from Michigan last weekend, Wisconsin looks to recover with a win as they prepare to face Illinois at home. The Badgers will host Illinois during homecoming weekend. In a similar manner, however, Illinois will also be entering this matchup coming off a significant loss of 46-7 against Purdue. Although the Fighting Illini are now 3-3, they still have the potential to battle with the Badgers.

With four members of the secondary limited or out of practice this week, Wisconsin's front seven will need to maintain gap control to contain Illinois' potent zone-read attack.

Despite playing substantially fewer minutes than her fellow forwards, senior Emily Borgmann sits second on the team with four goals.

Maybe it’s just a case of being a year older and wiser, but there is one more factor to Wisconsin’s elevated play this season: super-sub senior forward Emily Borgmann.

Sophomore defender Natalie Buchbinder opened the scoring for the Badgers with a rocket from the slot — her first goal of the year and just the second of her career.

The same script played out again Friday night as an unranked Badger squad (0-0-0 Big Ten, 1-0-0 overall) welcomed the No. 10 Eagles (0-0-0 Hockey East, 0-1-0 overall) to the Kohl Center and captured a 3-0 upset.

Defenseman Peter Tischke was almost cut when Granato took over, but since then he's come to embody all the characteristics that 'Badger hockey' represents.

After an injury ended Zack Baun's 2017 season before it started and a disappointing 2018 season, the senior linebacker has played a central role in UW's top-ranked defense in 2019.
