The Huskies capitalized on a slow start from UW and a sterling, 39-save performance from freshman goalie Aerin Frankel to become the first unranked team to beat Wisconsin since Bemidji State in January of 2015. “We didn’t capitalize on our opportunities and their goaltender played really well,” Johnson said. It didn’t take Northeastern long to jump out to a surprising lead.
The top-ranked Wisconsin women’s hockey (16-0-0) team continued its perfect season this weekend with a sweep of the then No. 7 Cornell Big Red.
For the third week in a row, the Wisconsin women’s hockey team is facing a ranked opponent. The Badgers, off to their second-best start in program history, head into the series against the Big Red with confidence gained from two straight sweeps over ranked rival opponents, Minnesota and Ohio State.
The undefeated, No. 1 ranked Badgers (8-0-0 Big Ten, 14-0-0 overall) wrapped up another perfect weekend, defeating, and therefore sweeping, No. 4 Ohio State (5-2-1, 7-2-1) by a final score of 3-1.

In its only home series of the month, the Wisconsin Badgers continued its winning ways. The women’s hockey team extended its winning streak, and it is now 10-0-0 after a convincing 5-1 victory against the Bemidji State Beavers (1-6-1). It is the second time in team history that the Badgers have started off with ten straight wins, with the 2015-16’ team being the last to do it. Bemidji State’s record is slightly misleading.
The No. 1 Wisconsin Badgers (9-0-0) took on the Bemidji State Beavers (1-5-1) Friday night in the LaBahn Arena, attempting to stay perfect and become the second Badger team ever to win its first nine games.
This week, the No. 1 ranked Wisconsin Badgers (6-0-0) head to Mankato for a very familiar matchup versus the Minnesota State Mavericks (1-2-1). The two teams have played 83 contests all-time, with Wisconsin holding an impressive lead of 78-2-3.
