How much does a seat in the Wisconsin Legislature cost?

Candidates running for 132 state-level Wisconsin offices spent nearly $11 million in total on their campaigns, an analysis of pre-election reports filed with the Wisconsin Campaign Finance Information System performed by The Daily Cardinal revealed. One hundred sixty state Assembly candidates and 30 state Senate candidates’ combined total campaign disbursements were $10,990,854.24, according to available data.

Open dialogue is key to politics, learning

The year 2016 has, so far, proven to be an extremely difficult one. Through the first eight months we have witnessed horrifying terrorist attacks both domestically and abroad, a civil war that has left millions in a state of crisis, an attempted military coup, an Olympic games in a politically torn nation and great political and racial tensions here in the United States.  We still have four months to go.  In this year that has seen so many influential events, the final four months of 2016 very well may prove to be the most important ones.

OPINION

The most important side of politics: the personal

Following the Iowa caucus Feb. 1, tensions within both parties have already begun to peak. While we wait for the voting to resume once again in New Hampshire on Tuesday, debates between everyday Americans as to which candidate is the proper one for their respective parties have already turned heated. Most everyone (notice I said most) has some political view, and has been involved in at least one conversation about politics over the last few days or weeks.
