Increase in state funding announced to speed road construction

Gov. Scott Walker announced Wednesday state funding to complete almost 50 town road and municipal street improvement projects throughout the state. Projects set to be financed are selected by recommendations from the statewide discretionary improvement committees, whose members were nominated by the Wisconsin Towns Association and the League of Wisconsin Municipalities.

A narrow group of voters could be able to vote without IDs, after a ruling from a federal court Tuesday.

The 7th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled unanimously Tuesday that a lower court should consider whether certain demographics of voters who face more difficulty getting photo IDs are unduly punished by Wisconsin’s voter ID law. The ruling keeps the law in place but could open the door for those who cannot get voter IDs to find other ways to vote.

Cruz, Sanders lead as Wisconsin primary looms

Texas Sen. Ted Cruz and Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders lead Wisconsin presidential primaries in a new Marquette Law School Poll released Wednesday.

Wisconsin has seen 30,235 new private-sector jobs from September 2014 to September 2015, according to Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development’s yearly release.

Democrats introduce bill in attempt to increase birth control access

Two Democratic lawmakers introduced a bill Wednesday that would allow women to extend their birth control prescriptions for a year after receiving an initial three-month supply. Currently, health insurance plans in Wisconsin only cover contraceptive prescriptions ranging from one to three months.
